What is the difference between primary and secondary research?

primary research is infomration gathered first hand from an original course

secondary research is information gathered second hand or has an interpretaion from original information

What are the advantages of primary research?

Typically more reliable, accurate and up to date

What are the disadvantages of primary resarch?

more expensive to collect, takes more time to collect so might delay timescale, can be misleading if smale size is too small for audience scale, questions nee dto be worded carefully and checked to avoid bias

What are the advantages of secondary research?

Quicker and less costly to collect an analyse

What are the disadvantages of secondary research?

Can be biased so must be verified for accurany against other sources, maybe out of date, may be too broad or too specific

What is qualitative information? Give an example

data is informative, includes thoughts, ideas and feelings, eg. free text answers why they liked a film

What is quantative information? Give an example

based on numbers and statistics eg, 90% of teenagers have a msart phone
