Limbic System

Amygdala

Enables aggression and fear. "Fight or Flight." Below thalamus next to hippocampus.

Hypothalamus

below thalamus. Important to bodily maintenance, eating, drinking, and body temp. Main job is to maintain homeostasis.

3.

Hippocampus

processes explicit (conscious) memories, facts and events. Size and function decrease as we grow older.

4.

pituitary gland

The hypothalamus controls the pituitary by stimulating it to trigger the release of hormones.

5.

Nucleus accumbens

Reward center. In front of the hypothalamus.The neural interface between motivation and action.
