Science Task 1
VIBRATION
Vibration is a rapid back-and-forth or up-and-down movement. In physics, vibration is the periodic motion of an object around a fixed equilibrium position.
PITCH
Pitch is how high or low a sound seems to be. It is related to the frequency of the sound wave. Higher frequencies are perceived as higher pitches
AMPLITUDE
Amplitude is the maximum displacement of a point on a wave from its rest position. In sound waves, it determines the loudness of the sound. A larger amplitude corresponds to a louder sound.
FREQUENCY
Frequency is the number of cycles or vibrations that occur per unit of time. It is measured in Hertz (Hz). In sound, frequency is related to pitch. Higher frequencies correspond to higher pitches.
OSCILLATION
Oscillation is the repetitive variation between opposite conditions or values. It's a synonym for vibration.
WAVE
Wave is a disturbance that travels through space and time, transferring energy from one point to another without transporting matter.
LOUDNESS
Loudness is a subjective perception of the strength of a sound. It is related to the amplitude of the sound wave. A larger amplitude corresponds to a louder sound.
INTENSITY
Intensity is the amount of energy of a wave per unit area per unit time. In sound, intensity is related to loudness. Higher intensity corresponds to louder sounds.
WAVELENGTH
Wavelength is the distance between two corresponding points in a wave cycle, such as from peak to peak or trough to trough.
