Effect - females; stimulates ovulation
males ; stimulates cells of testes to secrete testosterone

Effect - stimulated growth of gland and secretion of thyroid hormone

Effect - regulates respond to stress, stimulates release of corticosteroids that regulate glucose, fat and protein metabolism
