Weldment
When 2 or more pieces are joined by welding.
Weld Symbol Arrow Side
The side of the joint that the arrow touches.
Weld Symbol Other Side
The opposite side of the joint that the arrow touches.
Weld Symbol Arrow
Always touches the line that represents the welded joint.
Weld Symbol Tail
Used to give information on specifications, the welding process to be used and details not shown.
Weld Symbol Reference Line
Always drawn as a horizontal line, placed near the joint to be welded.
Weld Root Opening
The space between the pieces at the bottom of the joint.
Weld-All-Around Symbol
Indicates that the same type of weld is to be used all around the joint. Indicated as a circle around where the arrow line and reference line meet.
Field Weld
When a weld is to be made away from the shop. Indicated by a flag drawn where the arrow line and reference line meet.
Contour Weld Symbol
Profile of a fillet weld. Indicated above the fillet weld symbol.
