Area
Total number of squares needed to cover a two-dimensional surface.

Base
The bottom layer of a prism. Can be found by multiplying: Length x Width
Dimension
Length, Width, or Height of a figure
Dividend
The number being divided in a division problem.
Divisor
The number we divide a dividend by in a division problem.
Multiple
A product of two or more factors
Ex. 2x3 = 6
Factor
A number that divides another number equally. Also when two or more are multiplied together they make a product.
2 x 3 = 6
Parenthesis
Two curved lines used to group math symbols. Shows which math to complete first in an expression.
(4x3) + 2
Quotient
The answer to a division problem
Volume
The total number of cubes needed to fill a three dimensional shape.
Formula for a rectangular prism = Length x Width x Height
Rectangular Prism
A three dimensional shape who has 6 faces that are all rectangles.
Remainder
The number left over after dividing one whole number by another whole number
Commutative Property of Multiplication
A property showing no matter what order you multiply numbers, the product remains unchanged.
Ex: 4 x 3 = 3 x 4
Associative Property
Property showing no matter how you group numbers being multiplied, the product remains unchanged
Ex: (4x3) x 2 = 4 x (3x2)
