Viewfinder
The area of the camera that you look through to compose your shot. Not intended to be a preview but rather you taking it.
Mode Dial
Allows you to select from different options, such as automatic mode, program mode, sport mode, or Marco mode.
Body
The main portion of a camera.
Shutter release
The button on the camera that is used to snap the picture. It opens and closes the shutter, allowing the necessary information to enter the camera.
Aperture
Affects the images exposure by changing the diameter of the opening.
Image Sensor
Convert the optical image to an electric signal, which is sent to your memory (SD) card
LCD Screen
Found on the back of the body and can vary in size.
Flash
On board flash provides a bit of extra lighting in dark or dim areas.
Focus Ring
A ring typically found on the lens that allows for controlled focus.
Flash button
The button will trigger the pop-up flash. (It's the lighting symbol)
Lens Release Button
Press the button to unlock the lens mount, and detach the lens by rotating it.
Exposure Compensation Button
If you want to control Apeture, you need to hold down this button if not in manual mode
