DRESS

  • Drug reaction with eosinophilla and systemic symptoms
  • Occurs about 2-8 weeks after med exposure

S/s for DRESS

  • Watch for reporting fever and widespread rash
  • Facial edema, hematologic abnormalities (low platelets)

  • Levetiracetam, clobazam
  • Carbamazepine, Lamotrigine, Phenytoin

  • Allopurinol

Antibiotics drugs that cause DRESS

  • Minocycline, Vancomycin
  • Sulfonamides: Dapsone, Bactrim

What is SJS and TEN

  • Occur within 4 weeks of med exposure
  • Skin reaction but TEN is more extensive...with blistering and skin detachment
  • Listen for fever, pain, lesions
