What does MIDI merge look like and what does it do?

It has one arrow on the bottom pointing straight to the right and an arrow right above it that has an arrow pointing down to the right almost colliding with the bottom arrow. MIDI merge allows you to record over pre-existing MIDI and not overwrite previously-existing data.
