What is lab attendance?
-Attendance is mandatory (leaving after a quiz is a full absence)
- Any students with TWO UNEXCUSED ABSENCES will receive a ZERO FOR THE SEMESTER
What is a tardy?
Arriving after the door has closed but before lecture has ended.
-Tardiness to the lab is half an absence.
What is the lab make-up policy?
There are no make up labs for any reason.
-Only valid current excuses within one week of the missed lab are accepted.
Examples of good excuses. (all documens need to be signed)
-Sickness: need doctor’s valid excuse
-Military: copy of orders
-Car issues: parts bill, wrecker bill, police report etc.
-UAB official business: letter from sponsor
-Death in immediate family: copy of an obituary
-Legal issues (jury duty, subpoena, jail, etc.): official documentation

What is the exam make-up policy?

-exams can be in any form and are right after the lab final

REMOVE ALL TAPES AND THROW GLOVES AWAY IN BIOHAZARD CANS– points will be deducted if not
What are not allowed in the lab? (dress code)
-No food, drinks, children, tobacco, or chewing gum is allowed in the lab or open lab (EVEN on your exam days)
-Shoes must be closed for your safety. No sandals, high heels, or open-toed shoes are allowed
-torso must be completely covered and no bell top sleeves and long hair tied up
-baseball hats and caps must be removed during exams
What is allowed in the lab? (dress code)
full length pants are required (no shorts/dresses above the knee, and no mesh leggings)
What happens when you have incorrect attire in the lab?
Incorrect attire will not be allowed to participate in lab sessions and considered an unexcused absence.
Can you have lab coats and goggles?
yes, but they need to stay in the lab during the semester if you choose to wear it.
What room can you not enter without permission?
Rooms 2111 (microbiology lab)
-Unauthorized entry will result in a two-letter grade deduction from your final grade.
Can you press the blue button?
No! Doing so will result in an automatic ZERO for lab.
Is the lecture required with the lab?
YES
